A Lot Can Happen In A Year...Or Two

I can't believe it has been over two years since I blogged last! But, who would have thought that a virus would shut the entire world down to the point where we are all "sheltering in place." Another nice term for a big, "time out!" But it has given us all time to slow down, and hopefully, enjoy our families, and take stock of our lives a little more since there are few "entertaining" things to draw our attention away from what is really important. No ball games, no movies, no eating out, no concerts, no gatherings over 10 people. Church online. But, I digress.
So, let me bring you up to speed...two years in a nutshell. We became grandparents! The best thing ever, but when your kids are in the military they can be far away. We've made the 8 hour trip to Ft. Campbell many times. But, they are coming to Ft. Leavenworth! A short 35 min trip. And we're about to be grandparents again! In one short week, we get to meet our granddaughter.
In October 2018, we took our anniversary/ honeymoon to Seattle, where I got to cross off one of my bucket list items: to see the Chihuly Glass Garden and Museum. It was stunning. Dazzling displays of the largest blown glass I've ever seen. It was the best unplanned, laid back vacations ever. Each day was an adventure with no set agenda.
Flash forward to the Great Kitchen flood of 2019. As we were about to go on stage at church, I get a panicked call from my son that there was water pouring down into the basement. I still don't understand what happened, the dishwasher wasn't running, but water was pouring out of it and the sink. The result was taking the kitchen, dining and basement down to the studs and beams. Over a year later, we are almost back to normal. #contractorprobs. But that's another story.
We got a dog, I met my older sister for the first time, I finally let my hair go gray, and I started a Montessori school. All of those things a story in themselves. Stay tuned...life is never dull around here!
